Department of Physics – University of Thessaly
The Department of Physics, School of Science, University of Thessaly, has introduced the Master’s Program (MSC) entitled “Applied Physics” from the academic year 2020-21. The MSc has no tuition fees.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The MSc focuses on providing graduates of Physics Departments, as well as graduates of related specialties from other Science Departments, Engineering Departments and former TEI Departments, expertise in the design and study of Materials, Computational Methods and Scientific Data Analysis, advanced electromagnetism (metamaterials), photonics and radio astronomy, along with High Energy Physics. The MSc leads, in accordance with the procedures defined each time by law, to the granting of professional rights, beyond those provided for by the basic degree.
The MSc offers a high level of specialization in the design and study of Materials, Computational Methods and Scientific Data Analysis, advanced electromagnetism (metamaterials), photonics and radio astronomy, while it also provides knowledge in High Energy Physics. The implementation of the diploma thesis also connects the theory with practice, focusing on applying the knowledge gained to current research topics.
The MSc aim is to prepare graduates:
- for doctoral level postgraduate studies.
- for work in research programs, research centers and Institutes and in research and development companies.
DURATION – COURSES
The duration of the MSc to obtain BMI is three (3) semesters. The first semester includes four (4) compulsory courses and one (1) elective course. The second semester includes one compulsory course and four (4) elective courses. Course attendance is mandatory. The last semester is available for the preparation of the master’s thesis.
